Steve has been breeding, raising, and training dogs for over 40 years. Starting as a hobbyist, Steve decided to “retire” to the dog life about 12 years ago. He has competed at the highest levels including the North American Sieger Show and World Universal Sieger with his German Shepherd Dogs. After realizing the passion for training was indeed one he wanted to follow into a profession, he attended formal schooling at American K9 Interdiction to gain a deeper knowledge of the art of training for protection and narcotics detection. Steve was recognized for his abilities to communicate and work at a high level with dogs, and was asked to assist local law enforcement agencies with training. As a civilian, this is quite an accomplishment. He now has contacts across the globe and imports the highest caliber of dogs from some of the finest kennels in the world for training.
Armored K9 was developed to provide an alternative to agencies that primarily import young adult dogs that are then placed as “protection” dogs. Steve found that many of these dogs were just not the family dog, but rather a sport or police type working dog that was being used in a home environment. Knowing there is a difference, he decided to breed his incredible stock of hard working dogs that had impeccable temperament rather than importing young dogs that, while definitely were workable for Law Enforcement, were often more of a management problem for families. Most are simply not bred with families in mind.
Armored K9 does still train for Narcotics Detection, but focuses on the family/executive level Protection Dog.
